Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick Review

I've never tried any of Clinique's lipsticks before so I was really excited to try out the long last soft matte lipstick in 'Watermelon'. Clinique are renowned for making amazing lip products and their chubby sticks are a favorite of mine so I was expecting big things of this lipstick. The shade watermelon is a gorgeous hot pink, the colour is really fun and playful and works well with both a every day and night time look . The formula is really creamy and extremely pigmented, leaving a strong colour on the lips. My favorite thing about this lipstick is that it isn't drying at all which makes a change to many of the other lipsticks I wear. The other beneficial thing is that it actually does what it says on the label. Most products that say that they long lasting often disappoint me as they never seem to do what they say so I was really surprised to see how long this lipstick lasted.  I'm not too keen on the packaging of the lipsticks as they look a bit boring but the product inside is amazing so I'll over look its exterior.

Elemis Flash Balm Review

If your like me and love dewy, radiant skin then the Pro-Radiance illuminating flash balm by Elemis is for you. It has a very light texture that absorbs easily into the skin, leaving a beautiful dewy glow. Whats great about this product is that not only does it contain certain vitamins that protect against moisture loss but it also contains ingredients such as purple orchid, noni and acai that help defend against the early signs of aging. I love applying this balm over my moisturiser as it primes the skin and gives a really nice base before applying make-up. Also, if you want to highlight your cheekbones and other areas of the face using a tiny bit of this over foundation works really well. The balm is perfect for almost all skin types however if you have oily skin you may find that the product isn't that great as it adds sheen to the skin.

What's New

I've been a bit rubbish over the past few days with putting posts up as my family came down to London to stay with me and so I've been so busy and am now exhausted. We went to the Wedding Show at Earls Court on Saturday as my cousin is getting married soon so it was lovely to look at all the beautiful dresses and try free samples of cake! Then today I went with my cousin and her little girls to Buckingham Palace and I am now aching from walking so much. As a quick post today I thought I would share some lovely non-beauty things that I got over the weekend. The first thing I got is this bunch of fake peonies to sit on my radiator cabinet. Peonies are my favorite flowers but around this time of year you can never find them as they aren't in season. My lovely Mum brought me these fake Peonies which are beautiful. I would normally hate fake flowers but they look so real and won't die after a week so I'm really happy with them. The next thing I got is a new book - I've wanted to read this book for years and I wanted a really easy going girly read so I brought Lauren Conrad's LA Candy and so far its really good, not exactly a intellectual or stimulating book but its a good one to read before bed! Lastly,
My Auntie brought me this really cute pearl Thomas Sabo bracelet with a F charm which is gorgeous! I have a whole week planned of posts and have some really exciting things to review so keep your eyes peeled. Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!!

BATISTE

This stuff is a life saver in a aerosol can. I'm one of those people that hates greasy hair, actually more like loathes greasy hair. Therefore for people like me dry shampoo is the best thing in the world. Batiste is the best dry shampoo out there, I've tried so many and always find myself coming back to this trusted brand. Whats also great about these is that not only do they cover up the grease in your hair but they give your hair more texture and volume, I often spray some on my hair before styling as it gives a certain boost to the hair. My favorite scent is tropical just because it smells incredible and beachy, it really reminds me of that holiday smell. I recently brought the 'hint of colour' version in light and blonde, I was a bit hesitant buying it as my hair is very dark blonde so I thought it might make my hair a bit white but it really brightens my hair and brings out my natural highlights. They also do a little mini version that you can carry around in your bag in case you feel like you hair needs a clean!

Cath Kidston Travel Brush Holder

Whenever I have to go anywhere whether it be for a weekend or for a holiday I like to keep my brushes separate from my makeup bag simply because its easier and keeps my brushes in much better condition. This foldaway brush carrier is absolutely perfect and so adorable. Not only does it hold seven brushes but it also has a zip-able compartment which can hold a number of other brushes. I love that it has a plastic cover that protects the top of the brushes and the case from getting dirty. This is the only print the case comes in online however I love floral designs and the case just looks so pretty. They also do a smaller brush carrier which is great if you only need to take away a few brushes and it has a cute lattice rose and star design. The case is actually part of a make up brush set from Cath Kidston, so for £25 you get the holder and seven brushes. When I first got this I thought the brushes wouldn't be great but I've found myself using the eye brushes and the blush brush almost everyday. This would make a perfect gift for someone or if you want to treat yourself.

Elemis Tranquil Touch

I'm a huge Elemis fan and one of my favorite ranges is 'Tranquil Touch' which smells absolutely incredible. Now that winters creeping up on us I love nourishing my skin and ensuring it gets extra special treatment seeing as it has to put up with this awful British weather.

1. Tranquil Touch Body Cream - This cream is perfect, it ticks all the boxes for me. Firstly, it sinks into the skin amazingly quickly so it doesn't leave your skin leaving greasy what so ever! Secondly, it smells great on the skin and this smell lasts so long that it almost acts like a perfume on your skin. It also leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished which is the main priority, I feel like the richness of the cream really smooths and hydrates the skin.

2. Tranquil Touch Indulgent Bath Elixir - This is probably the least used product out of the three as its very rare that I have a long bath as I usually hop in, get clean, get bored and get out. However, on the occasion that I need to relax and chill out this stuff is lovely. The exotic smell really helps you de-stress and enjoy relaxing.

3. Tranquil Touch Body Polish - I love a good body scrub/ polish but I especially love this one as its not to harsh on the skin as it uses a natural rice exfoliator to gently sweep away impurities and thus leaving the skin beautifully soft. As it sweeps away the dead skin cells it leaves a lovely radiant glow on the skin.

If you really want to treat your skin give it a go!

Baby Lips

I am absolutely obsessed with these little lip balms by Maybelline. I first brought 'Cherry Me' back at the beginning of summer and absolutely fell in love with it. Not only does it leave the sweetest pink shade on your lips but it keeps your lips remarkably moisturised. Now I normally have a issue with tinted lip balms as i feel they never work so well but the baby lips range are incredible. So the other day I picked up 'Pink Punch' and 'Mint Fresh' as I wanted to try the pink one and I thought I'd get a clear one just for under lipsticks so 'Mint Fresh' looked like a good choice. One of my favorite things about Baby Lips is the packaging, they're just so colourful and look adorable. I can't wait to try 'Peach Kiss' which is the purple one, I was so gutted that it was sold out in my local Boots so I'll have to try again next week.

MAC Lipstick in 'Dark Side'

As I ordered this product online I was unsure of how exactly the colour would appear in reality as the little colour blobs on the MAC website are rather misleading. I was looking for a really nice fall/winter lipstick that was a deep purplish red and to be fair its a pretty good match. I used to never go near darker lipsticks as I thought they would look ridiculous on me but I've really gotten in to them recently and I just love the sort of warmth they add to the face. This feels like such a Christmassy colour to me which I love as I'm getting so excited about Christmas now summer is over (yep I'm one of them ha) Anyone else think the MAC lipsticks smell like a mix of play dough and sweets? - I just did a swatch on my hand and can't stop smelling it!

L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverPure Shampoo + Conditioner

Every now and then I think its a great idea to change up my shampoo and conditioner to ensure my hair doesn't lose its luster. I've heard so much chatter about the L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise range and tried samples that I came across in magazines. I recently put a slightly lighter colour on my hair which is hardly noticeable but my natural hair colour has so many different light brown/blonde shades in it and I just wanted to even it out and try something different. Therefore, I wanted to get a colour care shampoo + conditioner to ensure it stays healthy which is great as one of the range in the L'Oreal hair expertise collection is colour care and moisture specified. I'm not a huge lover of the smell, the conditioner is minty and it sort of smells like I've got toothpaste stuck in my hair however its a very clean scent. Despite the scent using this shampoo and conditioner has left my hair soft, nourished and shiny which is all the things I normally look for. I really want to try the Eversleek Smoothing version as I have hair that needs to be tamed now and then and apparently that one smells amazing. Also I'd love to try the hairmasks in the collection as they look great and I love a good hair mask. I'm definitley a big L'Oreal lover at the moment!

WAFFLEMEISTER

One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to go to South Kensington to look around the cluster of museums and to browse the various patisseries and shops. I normally head to Paul patisserie as they do the most amazing macaroons but the other day I decided to go to Wafflemeister and boy oh boy was it good. Both me and my friend Katie went for the Strawberry Heaven which is an original Liège waffle with freshly whipped cream, a drizzle of Belgian chocolate fudge and strawberries. It is so divine and looked so scrumptious I had to snap a picture of it! Next stop on my South Kensingtion scrummy food/drink places is Bubbleology, where you can get a  'Bubble Tea' which is the name given to the wide variety of refreshing flavoured fruit teas and milk teas served ice cold or piping hot with chewy natural tapioca balls that you suck up through a big fat straw! How amazing does that sound!?! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks ill get to try one. Look out for my verdict on the bubble craziness!

Natural Collection Lipgloss in 'Caramel Shortcake'

I don't wear lip gloss very often as I hate that sticky feeling on my lips and when my hair gets stuck to it and causes a palava. However, this lip gloss is the opposite of sticky and feels more like a glossy balm on the lips and the best bit? Its cheap as chips - £1.99. This lip gloss is one of the Juicy Lips lip glosses by Natural Collection - Boots own affordable make up range. I love the shade 'Caramel Shortcake' as it is a pinky brown colour that is natural and a very wearable. I've used this lip gloss for around a year now and on days when I don't feel like putting lipstick on (very rarely) I always turn to this product. Its perfect for giving your lips a bit of a tint and shine and so much nicer than bare lips!

CoverGirl not so 'Lash Blast' Mascara

"Lash Blast' has been raved about for years by so many who believe its one of the best drugstore mascaras, so when on holiday I popped into Walmart and hunted it down. At first I was so excited about it as I'd never brought a Cover girl product before so I thought it was amazing. After using it for about two weeks the hype sort of wore off and I realised that this mascara doesn't offer a 'Blast' at all and leaves the lashes just looking natural and actually rather limp which was not at all what I was expecting. I think I wanted to love this mascara as it was so exciting to buy but it was just such a let down. I also brought one Covergirl's double sided creme shadow pens which had a great colour and I loved but it broke about 4 days after I brought it which really taints a brand for me. So to anyone that gets dragged into the Covergirl hype and really wants this mascara or any other product think again, its nothing special and quite frankly is a bit of a waste of money.

MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick in 'Royal Azalea'

Mac Sheen Supreme lipstick in Royal Azalea - £15.50

I've been dying to try one of Mac's sheen supreme lipsticks for ages so when my Mum gave me this one the other day I was a very happy bunny. The shade reminds me of a barbie doll pink which I would normally never go near but on the lips it comes out as a very pretty pink and is quite complementary to the skin. The formula is creamy and leaves a very subtle shine. One downside is that like many of mac's lipsticks its rather drying so its best to apply lip balm before but other than that its a winner. Plus wearing it makes me feel so girly and feminine which I love! Tres Jolie!

A peek inside my Bedroom

One of my favourite types of blog posts to read are room tours so I thought I would do my own to share with you all. I'm basically really nosey and love to see other people’s room décor and style. Before I start just to say this is in no way showing off or whatever its just sharing my taste in interior with the world. Around May I moved into a new room which is much bigger than my old room so I was so excited to decorate and make use of such a great space. The colour scheme I chose was grey and white as it looks nice and clean, also they are also two of my favourite colours (I know rather boring).

As you can probably tell by the photos I'm candle obsessed, I absolutely love vanilla candles especially the ones from Ikea but my absolute fave is my Jo Malone candle 'Pomegranate Noir' is smells incredible!! In my old room I used to have photos all over my walls but eventually it made me feel rather claustrophobic so I prefer having photos in frames now and I have about three in my room. I brought my bed linen from John Lewis and my pillows are from Primark (the leopard print ones) and the rest are from B&Q. The smallest cushions were such a good colour match to the quilt cover and they cost £2 each so they were a great purchase. The chest with the TV on top used to be my mums which she gave it to me and my dad painted it with a white gloss and its great to store all my makeup and beauty products in.

P.s. the model in the last picture is my little doggy Billie Boo!

Sally Hanson Nail Polish

Sally Hanson is one of my favourite nail brands, if you haven't tried their gold nail growth varnish then you are depriving your nails. I've never really brought any of their coloured nail varnishes but I went into Poundland to buy sweets as you do the other day and saw these and I was like whaaat Sally Hanson in Poundland?!?! crazy. There weren't many shades but I liked the look of these two and thought even if I don't wear them that much they cost me a pound. I currently have the shimmery green one 'Gentle Blossom' on my toes and its gorgeous. I'm yet to try the white/stone one 'Ion' but I think it will be nice plus it normally costs around six pounds so whayhey. There's no pictures of my nails as they are in a disgraceful state at the moment and I cut my finger with a knife while cutting up a tomato so its just gross. Such. A. Good. Bargain.

Herbal Essences Split End Protection Cream

I have a phobia....of split ends. Yes I said it those two dreaded words. I've noticed that my hair has grown quite a bit recently which is great as I feel its growing past that really awkward not short not long phase. However, as my hair is growing the fear that I will get split ends again is spinning round my head. Almost a year ago now I cut my very long straggly hair into a bob, it was an impulse decision but one that I am really glad I made as my hair is now so healthy. Ever since then I have been stocking up on products that keep my hair in tip-top condition so that as It grows it stays healthy.

I came across this split end protection cream and instantly thought it would be a good product to strengthen the tips of my hair and prevent damage. When I think of Herbal Essences the first thing that always comes to mind is the smell, their products always smell so good and this one isn't an exception!  Whats really great about this product is that it can be applied to dry hair as well as damp hair so it can be used even on the days when you don't wash your hair and doesn't leave your hair weighed down at all. I'm really glad I picked it up and fingers crossed it does its job!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte

So today's post is a little different as its not beauty related but I wanted to share this amazing recipe which I recently discovered. I'm a keen cook and a humongous foodie so I'm always on the hunt for yummy recipes that I haven't tried before. This was the first torte I've ever made and apart from a couple of things I would of done differently it went pretty well and tasted amazing. This is the perfect dinner party pudding as it is all prepped before and then put in the fridge so you don't have to worry about it. If your a avid chocolate or caramel fan or just love cooking give it a try!

Ingredients:
  • 175g digestive biscuits
  • 85g butter, melted
  • 397g can caramel (we used Carnation caramel)
  • 1 tsp sea salt, plus extra to serve
  • 300g plain chocolate (70% solids), broken into chunks
  • 600ml tub double cream
  • 25g icing sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Method:
  1. Line the base of a deep, round 20cm loose-bottomed cake tin with a circle of baking parchment. Line the sides with one long strip that comes just above the sides of the tin – staple or paper clip where the strip overlaps to hold it in place. ( I skipped this step as I hate fiddling about with baking paper)
  2. Crush the biscuits in a plastic bag or bowl with the end of a rolling pin. Stir into the melted butter, then evenly press into the bottom of the tin. Chill for 10 mins.
  3. Reserve 2 tbsp of the caramel. Stir the sea salt into the remainder and spoon into the centre of the biscuit base. Gently spread so the base is evenly covered but a visible 1-2cm border of biscuit remains around the edge. Chill for 20 mins while you make the chocolate layer.
  4. Gently melt the chocolate in a large heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir 1 tbsp of the cream into the reserved caramel, then cover and chill until ready to decorate. Once the chocolate has melted, turn off the heat but leave the bowl where it is, and gradually stir in the remaining cream until you have a smooth, shiny, thick chocolate sauce. Sift in the icing sugar and stir in with the vanilla extract. Lift off the heat and let the mixture cool for 10 mins. (you can also just melt it in the microwave to save time and washing up!)
  5. Ladle or pour the chocolate mixture around the edge of the torte first, so it fills the biscuit border, sealing the caramel in the centre. Then ladle or pour in the rest and gently shake to smooth the surface. Chill for at least 5 hrs or up to 24 hours until firm.
  6. Remove the torte from the tin, then carefully peel off the strip of paper and transfer to a serving plate. Spoon the reserved caramel-cream mixture into a small food or freezer bag. Snip off the tiniest tip of the corner to make a very small opening, then squiggle lines of caramel over the top. Chill until ready to serve. Scatter with a pinch or two of sea salt before serving, then thinly slice. Eat with a drizzle of single cream, if you like.
