REVIEW: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 'Notting Hill Nude'

I'm an absolute sucker for a nude lipstick, so when I saw Lily Pebbles (What I Heart Today) post on the Rimmel 'Notting Hill Nude' I was quick to the shop purchasing this gorge shade. I probably have a million (slight exaggeration) of similar shades to this one but I couldn't help myself. I've never actually brought this type of Rimmel lipstick before, I have a few of the Kate Moss ones but the Moisture renew range (the purple packaged ones) are a new addition to my collection. I'm so glad I saw Lily's review as I really do love this lipstick as its a perfect nude and it's not as drying as some of my other nudes. I find that it's quite similar to the No.7 lipstick in Romantic which is an absolute fav of mine! This shade is perfect for both day and nighttime wear and looks so nice with both a smoky/metallic and a natural eye. One downfall to this product, however, is that if you're wearing it on a long night out so if you're going clubbing you do have to re-apply quite a bit as the colour fades rather easily. Defiantly going to buy some more of the Rimmel lipsticks! So if anyone has any suggestion of a good shade let me know!

Hair Products I've loved this Month

So as the month of August is coming to an end I thought I would do a favourite hair product of the month post. At the beginning of this month I was in Mexico so mainly this post will be a few of my holiday hair saviours but generally, I use most of these products at home anyway.

Firstly Batiste dry shampoo in tropical, now this stuff is an absolute life saver! As I was travelling I felt really dirty and unclean but this stuff gives an instant boost to your mood as it makes your hair look fresh and smells amazeballs. Seriously if you love tropical beachy scents then this one is for you. I know they do mini travel sized ones but I feel that there's not enough in there so I prefer the larger sized ones however the small ones are great to have handy in your handbag.

Ok, the second item I have been loving has been heated protector, I'm a crazy person when it comes to my hair I always want the softest healthiest hair so I only use heat on my hair once I've protected it. I purchased the Loreal Elnett satin heat styling spray probably around mid-July and its a really great spray that does its job. However, when I went away at the airport I realised I forgot to pack it so I picked up this mini Tresemme heat defence spray and I'm so hooked on it it's a joke. I think I'm addicted to the smell of this stuff it's just so good and once you've dried your hair the scent stays. So the verdict is once my Loreal runs out I'm going to get the full-size version of the Tresemme spray it's just so nice. If you're looking for a heat protector for your hair I really recommend this one!

My other hair product love at the moment has to be Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner. Again this stuff smells so incredible that it kinda makes me look forward to washing my hair. What's even better is that I got these two for a pound each in Savers so it's cheap as chips!

Lastly, I've been loving my leopard print comb that I picked up in Primark simply because it gets the tangles out of my hair, is great for styling and of course I love leopard print.

Contour Virgin

So when it comes to contouring I'm a bit of a virgin. I've watched tutorials and seen how contouring can really shape and give the face definition and I've thought oh wow that looks amazing but to be honest it looks like a lot of work. As its Bank holiday weekend and I have a bit of extra time I thought I would give it a whirl. I decided to purchase the Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette as it's an affordable palette that has been raved about.

I already have the lace Sleek Blush Palette which is absolutely gorgeous! I love the packaging as its really simple but looks more expensive than it really is, it kind of reminds me of the Nars packaging inside. Anyway inside the Palette is a darker shade for shadowing and a lighter shade for highlighting but also included is this pretty shimmery blush. I also used High Beam by Benefit to add a more dewy effect to my highlighting and I feel using a liquid over a powder gets rid of the powdery glare on the skin. So I look nothing like what it looked like in the tutorial hence why there are no result photos but I can slightly notice the difference especially on my nose. Hopefully, if I stick at it and try a couple more times I will get the desired effect and be a contouring pro....or not. I would love some contouring tips if anyone has any!

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint

I've been a fan of Liz Earle products for a very long time, in fact, the Liz Earle cleanse and polish was the first ever cleanser than I used and continued to use for two years. Recently I've been trying to give my skin a break by wearing tinted moisturisers as opposed to foundation. This week I thought I would try Liz Earle's Sheer Skin tint which I had brought ages ago but never really used much of. What is really great about this product is that it is more of a cross between a foundation and a tinted moisturiser as it gives much better coverage than other tinted moisturisers out there. What's also great is that it has SPF15 so not only does it moisturise and give coverage but it also protects the skin from sun exposure.

The shade I've been using is Beige 02 which is a perfect match for my skin tone and blends into the skin easily leaving an even and glowing complexion. It also has a really lightweight feel to it which makes your skin feel so much fresher than when wearing foundation. On days where I have a spot or irritated skin combining this with a concealer works perfectly and still gives the skin more room to breathe.

Give your skin a break and switch to Tinted Moisturiser for a while :)

Maybelline the Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

The Maybelline mascaras are probably my favourite drugstore mascaras at the moment. I feel that I can keep going back to them knowing that I won't be disappointed. When Maybelline brought out their Rocket Volum' Express Mascara a while back I went and purchased it knowing that I would be pleased with the result which I really was. However, after a while, I got bored of using it and moved on to a different mascara. Then about a week ago I got one sent to me in a competition win and ever since I've been hooked back on to it.

I love this mascara for a number of reasons, the main one being the wand. Plastic wands are my thing, I can't stand any other kinds as I feel like they don't separate my lashes well enough. One of my biggest make-up pet hates is when my lashes stick together and make me look like I only have three eyelashes. Another great thing is that it really builds up your lashes and gives the desired length and volume, making your eyelashes look much longer and thicker than they really are.

One downside to this mascara is that it is more of a night-time/going out mascara as it really thickens the lashes and gives an exaggerated eye effect - which is exactly what I like on a night out just not for day time. So if you're looking for a good mascara for nights out or you generally like having big lashes give this one a go. I'm definitely going to keep using this mascara for a while and I think a re-purchase will be needed soon!

Refreshing morning routine

I often wake up feeling rather sluggish due to lack of sleep or the fact that I couldn’t be bothered to wipe of all my eye makeup from the night before (we all do it). So I thought I would put together my favourite products that give me that boost of energy in the morning. This combination of products works really well together but also are great products on their own.
1.   Bliss Triple oxygen instant energizing cleansing foam

This is one of my favourite cleansers at the moment, I’ve been using it for a couple of months and I love how clean and fresh it leaves my face feeling. It also has this gorgeous citrusy orange smell to it which is to die for. The foam texture is so light on your skin and when you take it off it feels like a breath of fresh air.

2.   Clinique exfoliating scrub

Exfoliation is one of the best ways to make your skin feel and look more refreshed. This is a perfect morning exfoliator as its tiny granules ensure that all excess dirt is off of your skin and prepared for the day ahead. For those that don't like fragranced face products, this is perfect as it is 100% fragrance-free.

3.   Elemis Eyes-Awake Recovery Gel
I’ve tried a lot of eye gels in the past but this one is definitely my favourite. I find that some eye gels leave a sticky feeling on your skin but this one just leaves your eyes feeling cool and refreshed. I dab a couple of blobs of this under my eyes and on top of my eyelids and it really leaves them feeling more alive and rejuvenated.
4. Garnier Moisture Match - Wake me up
This moisturiser is the perfect finishing touch to a refreshing morning routine. This stuff basically does what it says on the packet it wakes you up. The gel texture is so different from other moisturisers I use which I really like, I find it sinks into the skin quickly not leaving too much of a heavy layer on the skin.

So there we have it - forget coffee this routine will give you the best wake up buzz there is!

REVIEW: Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick

Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick in Bare to be Bold

A couple of weeks ago I was on holiday in Mexico and I was crazy excited when I found a Walmart (this was a highlight of my holiday, yes I know very sad). I almost ran to the make-up and beauty section to relish in the excitement of American beauty products. This lipstick is one of my purchases which I was lured into buying pretty much because I thought it looked cute and pink.
I’ve always been a big fan of Maybelline, I love their Dream Matte Mousse foundation and blush but I’d never really looked at their lip products. I was looking at the different shades of this lipstick and came across this colour – Bare to be bold. Now I love a nude lip and this one is so sheer and moisturising that it makes a perfect daytime lip. It also works really well with a smoky eye on a night out!

If I had to fault this product I would say that it has no extreme colour to it, it’s noticeable but isn’t in your face which isn’t a bad thing really, however, it would be better if it was more pigmented. The picture above shows this, however, it's so moisturising compared to other lipsticks that it doesn't bother me too much. I'm not too sure if you can buy these lipsticks in the UK however you can get them off of eBay if not. I definitely want to buy some more of these lipsticks, they do a shade called Petal Rebel which is a gorgeous Barbie doll pink that I really want to get my hands on! So if you're looking for a really light feeling and moisturising lipstick then this one is for you!

St. Moriz Self Tanning Mousse (the best kept secret in fake tan)

Not only do I love this self-tan due to its bargain price tag but it is also an absolute godsend. I’ve tried so many different self-tanners and generally, most of them disappoint me due to their patchy outcome or their orange tango effect. This tanner, however, has always given me a gorgeous glow.
When first applying the product it’s slightly daunting as it turns your skin a dark green colour, making you look slightly ogre-ish.  Thankfully once you shower this green turns to a lovely sun-kissed bronze. When I first used this I panicked as I had a party to go to the next day and I thought I would never be able to scrub the green off of my skin. A key tip when using this self-tanner as with using any other tan is to use a tanning mitt to prevent orange hands and to leave an even finish on the skin.
I’ve received many compliments on how natural this tan looks and compared to other self-tanners on the market it leaves a holiday tan glow. Whenever I tell people it cost me £2.99 they are always in shock, I think I’m even still in shock at the price! If I had to fault this product I would have to say it's not perfect, as with every other self-tanner it starts to look groggy and needs a scrub to get off.
Ultimately, this product serves its purpose and doesn’t leave a hole in your pocket.  I would recommend it to anyone who wants a beautiful tan but doesn’t want to spend silly prices on St. Tropez or other tanning products. Happy tanning!

REVIEW: St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion Face Scrub

Recently I’ve introduced daily exfoliation into my skincare routine. I used to use the St Ives Apricot Scrub in my early teens and loved the smell but as time went by I started using different more upmarket exfoliators. Exfoliation used to be a couple of times a week thing for me, especially at school I could never be bothered in the mornings to exfoliate as I would normally wake up late and have to do a 5-minute rush out of the door. However, before my holiday, I wanted to ensure that my skin was in tip top condition so I decided to buy a new exfoliator that I would use religiously. When shopping I came across the St Ives Timeless Skin Daily Microdermabrasion face scrub. Immediately I was intrigued as unlike other gritty scrubs this was quite a fine gentle scrub and it was by a brand I had tried and loved before. Although I’m quite young I’m still conscious of the ageing process and feel that it's never too early to prevent ageing of the skin by using products that prevent the appearance of fine lines.
What’s so great about this product is that is so gentle on my skin that I feel that I can use it every day without it being too harsh on my skin. It also has a lovely fresh smell to it which is always a great bonus! The consistency of the scrub is rather strange it comes out as quite a gloopy liquid but once rubbed into the face it hardens and turns a paper white colour. After using this product for about a month now I can really notice the difference in my skin and it feels much tighter and polished than before. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a different face scrub or to anyone who wants to prevent those fine lines!

REVIEW: Elemis Fresh Skin – Skin clear treatment gel

Thankfully I’m blessed with moderately clear skin however like everyone now and then, often during times of stress; I have the ever-annoying spot that gets me down. Yes, this does sound pathetic but I like my skin to feel healthy and whenever I get a spot my skin feels oily and dirty and I generally get put in a bad mood.

Now I’ve never come across an instant spot cream that actually works and to be honest I probably never will, however, this treatment gel is the best spot diminishing product I’ve come across. I'm currently on my second tube of this stuff which generally lasts quite a long time and I must say it's my skin saviour.

Firstly, when smelling this product you get an aromatic whiff of the tea-tree oil of which the antiseptic qualities are amazing. I like to apply this product in the evening after I have cleansed and moisturised as although it can be applied throughout the day I usually have makeup on and don’t feel the full benefit of the product.  What is great about this gel is that not only are the results visible but you can feel it working on your skin. I’ve found that this stuff not only minimises the appearance of the spot but also ensures that it heals properly. I've often found with other spot creams that they tend to dry out your skin and even if they do diminish your spot they leave you with flaky skin which is even more unattractive. At £12 it isn't the cheapest spot cream/gel but it is definitely worth that little bit more for its effectiveness!

REVIEW: Pantene PROV 2min Deep Shine Masque

Whenever I return from a holiday I always give my hair a little bit of TLC to ensure that it recovers from excess sun exposure. Recently I’ve found that my hair has lacked that lustrous shine that healthy hair has. As I only have shoulder length hair it is in a good condition but I want my hair to have a shiny glow. After searching boots for shine related hair mask one that struck me was Pantene PROV’s 2min deep shine masque. I don't usually buy Pantene PROV products for my hair normally as I prefer to go with other brands that I have used for years however I thought I would give it a go. The packaging wasn’t exactly eye-catching but I don’t like to judge a product by its packaging as I am often fooled by a pretty exterior and left with a product that lets me down.

The Verdict - Thankfully I was right as this product has been an absolute hair saver! Applying this product I found that I didn't love the smell but it wasn't offensive it just didn't have a strong scent. After washing it out, the product left my hair feeling incredibly smooth and glossy. Another great thing about this product is that it only takes two minutes and this is extremely helpful as most mornings I am in a rush but still want to give my hair the care it deserves. Overall, I really like this product and would definitely buy it again. The cherry on top of the cake? It retails at £4.69 so it's not going to be breaking any piggy banks.

Goodbye summer hair, hello shiny locks.
